Every place is of course have a typical and unique food of their place. Like in Padang we will find rendang, in Yogyakarta we are able to get Nasi Gudeg. And in Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi, Riau we also will find many unique foods of their place. Here, I would like to write some of that typical foods from many foods that we are able to find them there.
Teluk Kuantan is one of the Sub-district that we can find in Kuantan Singingi. Kuantan Singingi is one the regency that is located in Riau. And what is the unique food there? Just continue in reading.
First is “Galamai”. Galamai has a unique taste and different with the others food of course. Actually galamai looks like dodol in some places like Java but if we touch and eat it, it is a little bit oily than dodol. Galamai is made by combination of glutinous rice flour and palm sugar, and usually it is wrapped by a dried leaf of banana or woven pandan leaves.
The second one is “Lamang”. Lamang is made by glutinous rice and coconut milk. After combining those materials, it will be put on a bamboo and then that bamboo will be burnt.
The next food is called “Bajik”.  Actually Bajik is divided by two kinds, Bajik Lopuar and Bajik only. Between both of them, it is of course have difference. They are also made by glutinous rice, but the difference is on the sweetner, if Bajik use Palm Sugar and Bajik Lopuar use the white sugar one.
There is a unique Curry also in Teluk Kuantan, there are not only snacks like galamai, lamang, and bajik but also there is Curry is use for side dish. The kind of those Curry are: “gulai cipuik, gulai nangka, and everything can be made for a kind of Curry actually but these are the typical one. Gulai Cipuik, Cipuik is same as snail but it is not as big as you think, it is only a small snail. We combine the coconut milk for the sauce and cipuik with the shells also and if we want to eat the part of the snail we should to take it by using our own mouth. Then, gulai nangka, listening from the name we know that gulai nangka is made by coconut milk and jackfruit. We can not use the old jackfruit for this one.
If you come to Teluk Kuantan, just try to eat this food and trust to me that you will buy many more for your family who is never eat it before because it has a unique and delicious taste and of course will make you being addicted, thank you
